London Tuesdays

On Sunday we went in search of Trinity Buoy Wharf. I had seen a pic of an authentic-looking American diner on Londonist & needed to check it out. Luckily, it's not that far from our place, right next to Canary Wharf.

Lo, Fatboy's Diner:

All original fixtures and fittings:

It lived in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for 41 years.

Out the left window you can see a (decommissioned) permanently moored lightship, apparently used as a photographic studio.

Lightship: like a lighthouse, but on a ship!

Trinity Buoy Wharf is also renowned for Container City:

It's a really fascinating project, and worthy of it's own London Tuesday.

No, I have no idea what Rod is doing in front of the Millennium Dome.

Sadly, we arrived at Fatboy's too late for food but we managed a super-thick shake, and a promise to return for a weekend brunch.

Sunday at Wanstead Park

It's been a while since our last visit to Wanstead Park. I think it might have been in spring to see the bluebells.

Rosie enjoyed our Danish hol and missed being out and about every day.

There's still a lot of green about.

And my favourite photographic subject, SWANS! These ones are full grown and are just losing their grey feathers.

We counted four cygnets this year, and I think there could have been another family elsewhere.

How's yer father?

Fred pointed out how similar swans and whippets look. And I agree, perhaps just not from this angle.

Denmark Haul

Before I describe the haul from Denamrk, I must say in my own defense that I did finish another project. The qiviut shawl is all done bar the blocking. Which needs to be done aggressively. Jen, where are youuuu?

Right, this is what it looks like all in one place:

I did not pose Rosie, she likes to pretend that she happened to wander into shot. I can't imagine where she got that from.

I have wanted a Hanne Falkenberg kit for many years, alternating between actual designs:

I chose the Victoria pattern before realising it was a Hanne. I think I have a lagoon/indigo, but only because the pictured one was not available. I'm having second thoughts and wonder if I can post it back. The wonderful staff at Garnhøkeren in Roskilde arranged for me to receive the pattern in English by post.

Also in kit form (most Nordic patterns are sold in this way, with the yarn) were these two I bought at the Strikkefestival in Fanø:

Also from Garnhøkeren in Roskilde, comes this Isager kit:

Researching now, it looks like there is a really cute dress version I think I'd rather!

From the Tante Groën stall at the fest, I got this top (as a kit) that I'd like to make as a tunic:

We stopped by the shop in Odense on the way through to Copenhagen, and I highly recommend it.

Finally, I bought another pattern book in Danish:

It will sit nicely alongside the one I bought last time but am yet to crack.
