Some of the ladies from Foyles went on an excursion to South Kensington. First stop, a preview of the costume and textile auction at Christie's, and then on to the V&A.
Look through the catalogue - it was like visiting a museum. And what shocked us most was that we were allowed to touch, photograph and even try on the items (as none of us have a 22" waist, there was none of the latter).
This patchwork dates from the Crimean war, and made of fabric from the soldiers uniforms.

What craic it was. Though I think that Jen probably would have fitted into those dresses...damn, should have twisted her arm...
